About Mark Alan Wade: Trumpet
Mark Alan Wade has toured Austria, Slovakia and Hungary as principal trumpet of the Classical Music Festival Orchestra and Brass Quintet of Eisenstadt, Austria. He has performed in the very Esterházy Palace wherein the celebrated trumpet concertos of Haydn and Hummel were premiered some two hundred years earlier. On different occasions in the United States, Mark Wade has performed for audiences of notables including: Presidents George Bush Sr. and President Bill Clinton, Ross Perot, and the former U.S. Secretary of Defense, William S. Cohen.
Wade has performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, Benedict College Community Orchestra (Principal trumpet: Columbia, SC) the Springfield Symphony Orchestra (Ohio), and is a member of the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra. As former principal trumpet of The Ohio State University Wind Symphony, Dr. Wade can be heard on the wind ensemble's CD entitled, The Winds of Nagual, a premier wind ensemble recording released under the Naxos recording label in 2006. A winner of the coveted Doctor of Musical Arts Concerto Contest, he appeared as a soloist with The Ohio State University Symphony Orchestra in 2007.
Prior to his teaching appointment at Denison University, Wade, a veteran public school music educator, also taught at the Methodist Theological Seminary of Ohio and at The Ohio State University as a graduate teaching associate in trumpet. There he received his Doctorate of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees. Dr. Wade's research concerns the medical problems associated with trumpet playing. In addition, He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Ohio Wesleyan University.
In addition to his career as a trumpet player, Wade is also a highly sought-after hammered dulcimer performer, composer and teacher. A National Hammered Dulcimer Champion, he can be heard on more than a dozen recordings and is a columnist for the Dulcimer Players News journal. He has personally released six CDs and two popular method books. His most recent solo classical hammered dulcimer CD, Serenade, has received rave reviews since its release in 2006. His recent students include the 2004 and 2007 National Hammered Dulcimer Champions.
