Description

Mark and Val in Belgium
Mark and Val in Belgium in 2024

Description:

Join Mark and Val Cortoni on the Wednesday before Evart’s FunFest (July 16th) for a small group workshop for hammered and mountain dulcimer at a fraction of the cost of one-on-one lessons. Settle in before the hustle and bustle of FunFest and enjoy focused time with your dulcimer in High School next to the fairgrounds. Mark has curated engaging topics that will cover improving technique, building repertoire, and enhancing hand-independence skills. Val is going to share music from France and Spain, along with ideas for adding harmony and embellishments. These extended class sessions cater to multiple levels, with Mark and Val differentiating instruction to suit each student’s needs. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, there will be valuable takeaways for everyone. Seating is limited, so reserve your spot today! This year, Mark and Val are alternating workshop levels so you don’t have to worry about being in two places at once!

NOTE: Mark’s Sessions 1-3 are for Hammered Dulcimer. Session 4 is for Mountain Dulcimer (90 Minutes).

FAQs:

  • What level are these classes for?
    • Almost ALL Levels! I write the arrangements and teach so novice through advanced players have ways to adapt the to their levels. If something is too hard, I show an easier way. If something is too easy or plain, I show a harder but more interesting way. This course is not, however, the best one for rank beginners though.
