Central Florida Dulcimer Festival

February 12 - February 14

Commonly known as “Mt. Dora” this is such a great festival!

Mark Alan Wade’s Classes:

FRI Class 1 HD Int

“Oh Shenandoah”

Perfect the magic of rolling chords on the hammered dulcimer! You’ll learn techniques to create the rich, full sound of three- and four-note chords using just two hammers. We’ll explore a variety of styles, from bottom-up rolls to mountain rolls. By the end, your arrangements will sound lush, complete, and ready to impress!

FRI Class 4 HD Adv

“Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zghivago

Let’s learn this beautiful love song! It is the perfect tune to get comfortable with chromatic notes. The sweeping melody is reminiscent of Russian balalaikas and is always a crowd pleaser!

FRI Class 5 HD Int

Cielito Lindo: a Mexican Love Song

This Mexican beauty is gorgeous waltz with syncopation. We’ll explore ways to play it in a traditional Mexican waltz style and add harmony too! Learn how to play tremolos and more in this fun workshop!

SAT Class 6 HD Int

The Gospel of Mark

We’re going to take 2 of the most popular hymns and learn how to play them well so we’re ready for the next jam and be able to play with confidence. We’ll also learn some

harmonies and fillers.

SAT Class 6 HD Adv

“It Had to Be You”

This catchy tune is as fun to play as it is to hear. We’ll learn how to play the melody while interjecting the chromatic counter melody that gives this piece it’s charm. Although it’s filled with hand independence, it’s actually quite intuitive to play.

SAT Class 9 HD Int

Authentically Irish: “Tuttle’s Reel”

Let’s learn this insanely fun jig from my new book and learn what we can do to sound more Irish when we play it. Mark will show you some hammer patterns that will help put the emphasis on the right beats to sound Irish, as well as some authentic Irish ornaments to add.
